The challenge was to design a series of interior walls which are part of a traveling exhibit extolling the virtures of Mercedes automobiles. The walls are made of blue and opal 1-5/8" thick cellular polycarbonate panels which snap together (tongue & groove) at the side laps (EXTECH Series #3440).
Because the exhibit was erected (and, every 3 weeks re-erected) on asphalt paved surfaces, EXTECH designed an aluminum framing system which "floats" to accomodate changes in the height of the paving.
The panels were lit from behind to provide a dramatic, soft blue glow. The tongue and groove feature allows the panels to be disassembled and reassembled easily. |
